perfection

So there aren't many days lately that seem perfect, but I must say Valentines Day was pretty darn close...(not to be cheesy, but) it really was a great day!!! The prep work started 2 weeks ago...we had a girls night out, planned by my sis-in-law to make our special v-day cards and share treats we'd made. Here's the blood sisters and their cards, ...our personalities really came out in our cards...it was hilarious..
On Valentines, I had so much fun making bfast...Buddy ate his card before I could snap a picture of it....

Ruby's place mat... she loved the special shaped pancake...I don't know if I'd call it heart shape necessarily but 'special'...

Marty's place, with my fancy-wancy card...ha ha
After bfast we were both able to work out and shower and just hang with our kids for a bit. We had other plans for our date, but the weather hampered some of those, so we took advantage of the snow and went snow-shoeing...!!! It was so much fun and sooo beautiful...the snow was amazing...

Then we went out to eat (early , about 4:30 and totally missed all the crowds) at The Bistro on 25th Street in downtown Ogden. It's right by Marty's work so he knows it well. I've been one other time and it is SOOOO good. Well worth a fifteen dollar plate (plus we had a coupon). Definitely fine dining in my opinion. I had a pasta with greek olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, grilled chicken, artichoke hearts and pine nuts all in a olive oil/lemon sauce. yummmmm

Last but not least we went up to Morgan to share a dessert with my family and go to the Morgan Stake Dance with my sisters and spouses. It was hilarious and we stayed for a good 30 min. and headed home for some alone time.... now that, to me is a pretty perfect day....

I am so impressed with your pre-planning! Sounds like you had a great day. We had a fun one, too...which was an awesome make-up for some of the not-so-fun ones in the past! BTW have you heard from Noal and Becky Smith since law school?

Little Ruby looks so cute..those are the things they really do love. The fun goblets and everything...too cute. I love how you always love to get out and enjoy the fresh air...I'd love to go snowshoeing with you...how's tomorrow? :) I love how you described your awesome meal down to the pine nuts...oh, how a woman enjoys a meal she doesn't have to make herself! And I love that you went to the Morgan Stake Dance and got your picture taken! How funny is it that I can tell you are cracking up in that picture? Seriously...you're the best. Love ya...

Bec, it IS funny that you could tell I was cracking up in that picture...
I was trying to pull a serious face like Marty but my brother-in-law made a comment about us and I lost it at the last second....I love how you know me. Friends from our 'growing' years are irreplaceable.

Man, you really out did yourself with the heart shaped pancake...I am not letting my kids see this blog for sure...i don't want to hear about how their mother made them eat cereal on V day.

In all seriousness, I agree that you are a wonderful example to us all on how to LOVE all stages of life. I could NEVeR hate you for being an over acheiver.
